Van Hasselt Lecture | Miranda Fricker

The annual Van Hasselt Lecture addresses topics around ethics, peace and justice in our technological age. The lecture was named after Frans van Hasselt, a student in Delft, who denounced the firing of Jewish professors at the university in a public speech on the 23rd of November 1940. He was arrested by the occupying forces and perished at Buchenwald concentration camp two years later.

Keynote speaker Miranda Fricker is a leading philosopher known for her groundbreaking work on epistemic injustice, exploring how power dynamics affect our practices of knowledge and understanding. She is a Julius Silver Professor of Philosophy at New York University and a widely celebrated voice in ethics, feminist philosophy, and social epistemology.

The Van Hasselt lecture is organised jointly by the department Values, Technology and Innovation of the Faculty of Technology, Policy & Management and Studium Generale TU Delft.
