Existential Tuesday: Does reality just go on and on forever?

What happens when you contemplate the weirdness of time?

Not just as a subjective phenomenon, or as an object of scientific study, but as a philosophical, metaphysical entity in and of itself? A sort of living, breathing mystery that pervades everything we are and do but makes no friggin sense at all?

Today I invite you to join me in an existential investigation of time and its cousin, eternity. I’m curious to hear your thoughts and meditations about the nature of time and eternity, what the difference is between the two, whether they are real or imagined, and what they imply about our very existence. What does it mean to us if reality has no beginning or end?

EXISTENTIAL TUESDAYS

Existential Tuesdays are small weekly* lunch discussions in the Nook of the TUD Library. Practice your critical thinking skills, learn to see the world from different perspectives, and hang out with your fellow deep thinkers in Delft.

Is loneliness a totally normal, private feeling? Is it an epidemic caused by technology? Is it a silent killer or a beautiful part of being human? The Studium Generale theme for this quarter is Loneliness. Through a series of events focusing on loneliness, we can look at this fascinating phenomenon through different lenses. From writing workshops to philosophical examinations, we invite you to connect with others and talk through what loneliness means to you.
