Figuring out what you really want in life is a cognitive process fraught with difficulties. There’s a difference between what you want, what you really want, and what you really, really, secretly want but have never admitted to anybody, including yourself. And then there’s all sorts of other factors to consider, from what’s realistic, to what’s practical, to timelines, to parental or societal concerns. Or just: weighing what you want against what you need.
By what process can you determine it? Is it rational, intuitive, or a mix? And what is reasonable to expect from reality, where your wants contend with those of 8 billion other humans and the forces of nature?
