Existential Tuesday: What are the essential experiences of a human lifetime?

You’re born, you suffer, and then you die. Or at least, that’s what some people claim is the essence of a human life (I’m looking at you, Billy Graham). But when you look at your life and that of the people around you, are there not numerous experiences that punctuate it with meaning, achievement, awe, or happiness?

Let’s start the academic quarter with an examination of the “peak experiences” you have observed or are anticipating in your life. Think of it as a bucketlist, but broken down to its fundamental values and motivations (not just, “skydiving”, but: why would you want to do something like that???)

What are the experiences you think a life should aspire to? The ones you’d regret missing when you reach the end? And what is it that makes them so essential? Find out what makes life worth living for your peers during your lunch break this Tuesday.
