Welcome to the TEDxDelftSalon: small, monthly events that will take place in the Orange Room at TU Delft Library. One TED talk, one live speaker and a discussion afterwards.
TEDxDelftSalon will take place during lunchtime (sandwiches will be provided) from 12.30 until 13.30. All talks will be in English and registration is mandatory.
Every bit of it
Conventionally, people would associate music with subjectivity, expressivity and emotions – properties which sharply contrast with the image of rigid objectivity and soulless number-crunching that we typically attribute to digital technology. But does this mean that these worlds are total opposites?
This is a personal account of a fascination for music, our current digital society, and the interfaces between both. You will get a chance at seeing and hearing the versatility of music. There will be talk about things big and small in the digital realm. But above all, this story is meant to open your eyes to the many hidden digital gems that are nowadays right in front of us, but easily overlooked.
Cynthia Liem obtained Master’s degrees in Media and Knowledge Engineering (Computer Science) and Classical Piano Performance. She currently pursues a PhD degree at Delft University of Technology in the field of music and multimedia retrieval, and still is active as a musician next to this.
