Existential Tuesday: How do you create your own religion?

The (religious) holidays are upon us.

Religions and cults abound and new ones are still being created and old ones being finetuned all the time. But what makes a religion a religion? How do you choose what to worship, what to believe, which rituals to perform, etc? Who decides to become a prophet and spread a new Truth, and why?

Let’s get creative. We’ll explore the necessary elements of a religion and see if we can make one from scratch. Which divine source would you choose? What, if anything, would you borrow from existing religions? What do you want to believe, and what can you believe?

This will be an exploration of the nature of belief.

EXISTENTIAL TUESDAYS

Existential Tuesdays are small weekly* lunch discussions in the Nook of the TUD Library. Practice your critical thinking skills, learn to see the world from different perspectives, and hang out with your fellow deep thinkers in Delft.
