Vox Delft and the TU Delft Debating Club are collaborating for a movie and discussion event.
We will be having a discussion about the documentary ‘Daughters of Destiny’. It can be found on Netflix and concerns a fully funded school for children from the lowest caste in India. We will be discussing some of the following questions:
– Is it justified to put so much pressure on children to become top students?
– Would this be a generally effective model to combate poverty?
– Would donations to a charity like Shanti Bhavan (the school’s name) be a better use of money than emergency or short-term relief charities?
