VOX Book Club – The Epic of Gilgamesh (1800BCE)

Join the free book club organized by VOX Delft and Studium Generale!

This quarter we’ll be reading the ancient Mesopotamian tale of Gilgamesh, an epic poem that was told and retold over thousands of years and multiple civilizations. It’s reported to be the oldest written story in the world. It tells the story of king Gilgamesh and his buddy the wild man Enkidu as he tries to find the secret to immortality. But even regardless of the plot, how cool is it to read a book that’s 4000 years old!

Write down the following dates in your calendar, as we’ll be meeting twice:

  • Wednesday, November 15th, 12:45pm: Book distribution. We’ll get a short intro to the book by dr. Marieke Sjerps and read the first page or so together
  • Thursday, December 14th, 6:00pm: Book discussion

Please register for the VOX Book Club so we know how many people to expect.
We’ll have ten free copies of the book to give away to the lucky few! For the rest of us there are eBooks, audio books, and hard copies available at (online) retailers for around 10-12 euros.
