Delft Writing Group

Every week, on Wednesday nights, the Delft Writing Group will host a writing space. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, whether you write in Dutch or English or whatever language you’re most comfortable in, the space can help to motivate and inspire you to get your creative juices flowing.

Café Het Klooster has graciously offered to donate their upstairs room to us. At 19:30, we will start with a short lecture/workshop/writing assignment. From 20:00 until 22:00, the space will be dedicated to writing. Bring your laptop, your pen and paper or your typewriter. If you’re suffering from writer’s block, we will have room every week for people who want to chat and have a drink.

On the first Wednesday of every month, we will host a more formal writing group. Participants will read each other’s work and offer critique and have the opportunity to have their own work critiqued. Don’t worry, if you’re shy about sharing, you’re welcome to come on those Wednesdays and write like normal.

This coming November (2017) is the “National Novel Writing Month” challenge. It’s actually an international challenge, but that doesn’t lead to a nice acronym like NaNoWriMo. If you’ve always wanted to pen a novel, this is a great opportunity and the Writing Group could be the place where you get it done.

The Writing Group is hosted by Molly Quell, a journalist, writer, and teacher with extensive experience hosting writing groups and workshops. Find more information about her on her website: http://mollyquell.com/ You can reach her for questions at m.r.quell@tudelft.nl

The Delft Writing Group is sponsored by SG. Our aim is to stimulate students and staff to hone their writing skills, share their thoughts and imaginings with their peers, and to help them publish on campus and online.
