Can we write a new story for our world? One where we live in harmony with nature, treat each other equitably and use our knowledge and technology democratically? Studium Generale TU Delft presents the For Love of the World festival, in which we invite you to join us in looking for new and different stories about the world. During this journey, we bring together technology, philosophy, and art to come to new perspectives.
We want to shape the future together with you and search for answers to the most important questions. Can we look at our place in the cosmos? How can we learn to treat the planet with more respect? And what impact does the increasing autonomy of technology have on us as humanity? We invite you to participate, to share and discover new stories together.
On March 23rd we’ll meet at Theater de Veste, in Delft city centre, for an afternoon filled with enervating conversations, interactive installations and audiovisual performances that will foster our imagination to find new stories for loving the world. The festival counts with simultaneous programming, with options in Dutch and English, that range from the Cosmic perspective all the way to understanding what is your (yes, you!) part in all of this!
Programme
At For Love of the World, you are invited to embark on a transformative journey. Our programme aspires to trigger your curiosity and inspire deep reflections.
At our keynote sessions, you will take a journey to the depths of Cosmos with theoretical physicist Heinrich Päs, explore the intricate connections of Gaia and planetary networks with biologist and philosopher Andreas Weber and ponder our place and actions in loving the world anew with researcher and professor of more-than-human design Elisa Giaccardi.
Immerse yourself in ‘Good Vibrations’, a lineup of dynamic and interactive sessions with esteemed researchers Aafke Fraaije, Joost Vervoort, Julia Rijsenbeek & Yke Bauke Eisma. The afternoon will be wrapped in a lively conversation moderated by Future Affairs podcast founder Wouter van Noort and Jessica van der Schalk.
Experience the solo performance ‘Latent Space’ by Fringe festival artist Pedro Latas, which touches upon Queer existences in a heteronormative world.
Step into Jardin d’Espoir, a maker space by Kaleidos, where poetry, music, and painting intertwine to sow seeds of hope for our collective future.
Experience the intersections of art and technology in mesmerizing installations:
- Future Affair from artist Laura A Dima, an interactive multimedia installation in which technology and intimacy are explored through touch.
- Sit down in our ‘study’ and compose a Letter from the Future in which you imagine how we cohabitate in the future, considering the challenges and changes we currently face.
- A thought-provoking art-piece from RADIUS, center for contemporary art and ecology, by artist Alexandra Martens Serrano.
And don’t miss out on the chance to join stimulating sessions and installations curated in collaboration with Powered by SG clubs: Vox, S4S, TU Delft Debating Club and Hesiodos. Have you ever thought about meat consumption through the eyes of a frog? Are you aware of the volume of waste a single human produces throughout a week? With these discussions (and more), Powered by SG Clubs will feed our imagination towards creating new storylines for loving the world.

Kunnen we een nieuw verhaal schrijven voor onze wereld? Een verhaal waarin we in harmonie leven met de natuur, elkaar rechtvaardig behandelen en onze kennis en technologie democratisch gebruiken? Studium Generale TU Delft presenteert het For Love of the World festival, waarin we je uitnodigen om met ons op zoek te gaan naar nieuwe en verschillende verhalen over de wereld. Tijdens deze reis brengen we technologie, filosofie en kunst samen om tot nieuwe perspectieven te komen.
We willen samen met jou de toekomst vormgeven en antwoorden zoeken op de belangrijkste vragen. Kunnen we naar onze plek in het heelal kijken? Hoe kunnen we leren de planeet met meer respect te behandelen? En wat is de impact van de toenemende autonomie van technologie op ons als mensheid? We nodigen je uit om deel te nemen, te delen en samen nieuwe verhalen te ontdekken.
Op 23 maart komen we samen in Theater de Veste, in het stadscentrum van Delft, voor een middag vol stimulerende gesprekken, interactieve installaties en audiovisuele optredens die onze verbeelding zullen prikkelen om nieuwe verhalen te vinden om de wereld lief te hebben. Het festival biedt parallele programmering, met opties in het Nederlands en Engels, die variëren van het kosmische perspectief tot het begrijpen wat jouw (ja, jij!) rol hierin is!
Programma
Tijdens For Love of the World nodigen we je uit om aan een transformerende reis te beginnen. Met ons programma willen we je nieuwsgierigheid prikkelen en je inspireren tot diepe reflectie.
In onze keynote-sessies ga je op reis naar de diepten van het heelal met theoretisch natuurkundige Heinrich Päs, verken je de ingewikkelde verbindingen van Gaia en haar planetaire netwerken met bioloog en filosoof Andreas Weber en overdenk je onze plaats en acties in de wereld met oog op het liefhebben van die wereld met onderzoeker en professor in meer-dan-menselijk ontwerp Elisa Giaccardi.
Laat je onderdompelen in ‘Good Vibrations’, een reeks dynamische en interactieve sessies met veelbelovende onderzoekers Aafke Fraaije, Joost Vervoort, Julia Rijsenbeek & Yke Bauke Eisma. De middag wordt afgesloten met een levendig gesprek onder leiding van Future Affairs podcast-oprichter Wouter van Noort en Jessica van der Schalk.

- Future Affair van kunstenaar Laura A Dima, een interactieve multimediainstallatie waarin technologie en intimiteit worden verkend via aanraking.
- Neem plaats in onze ‘werkkamer’ en stel een Brief uit de Toekomst op waarin je je voorstelt hoe we in de toekomst samenleven, rekening houdend met de uitdagingen en veranderingen waarmee we momenteel worden geconfronteerd.
- Een prikkelend kunstwerk van RADIUS, centrum voor hedendaagse kunst en ecologie, van kunstenaar Alexandra Martens Serrano.
En mis de stimulerende sessies en installaties van de Powered by SG-clubs niet: Vox, S4S, TU Delft Debatclub en Hesiodos. Heb je ooit nagedacht over vleesconsumptie door de ogen van een kikker? Weet jij hoeveel afval een enkel mens gedurende een week produceert? Met deze discussies (en meer) zullen Powered by SG Clubs onze verbeelding voeden om nieuwe verhaallijnen te creëren om van de wereld te houden.
