Let’s Talk Diversity: Coming Out for Who We Are or Who We Want to Be

Recording: Let’s Talk Diversity: Coming Out for Who We Are or Who We Want to Be

Diversity Talks is a series of free events that provides an open space to discuss and better understand diversity and inclusion. We will explore aspects of diversity within the context of science, technology and education as well as the work we do here as students, staff and management.

In the first presentation, dr. Aminata Cairo will explore what it means to embrace diversity and an inclusive learning environment for an institution that has to navigate between old traditions and new desires and goals. What are the challenges, and is it really that difficult? Although at TU Delft we often look for practical solutions, we now require a completely different approach. What does our community need? This is new territory, but we at TU Delft are not afraid of a challenge. Let’s find out what this means for us!

You are cordially invited to our first lecture ‘Coming Out for Who We Are or Who We Want to Be:  Explorations of Diversity and Inclusion’ on Thursday 11 October 2018, 12.30 hrs at the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment in the Berlagezaal. Introduction by prof.dr. Rob Mudde, Vice Rector Magnificus/Vice President of Education of TU Delft. Following the lecture, The President of the International Aviation Women’s Association (IAWA) Lisa Piccione will present the 2018 IAWA Scholarship to a female BSc or MSc student from the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.

Admission is free and lunch will be provided. For more information please visit the Diversity & Inclusion website.

This series of events are made possible by Studium Generale, DEWIS (Delft Women in Science), True-U (LGBT-network), TU Delft Diversity & Inclusion Office, X TU Delft and the TU Delft Feminists. The next event will take place on Thursday the 29th of November on the topic of implicit bias.
