VOX Delft, the association for critical and creative thinking, is hosting another free movie night in the TU Library.
The summer break is over, and VOX’s activities are starting up again! We will have a screening and discussion of a Spanish movie this time: Libertarias (1996) by Vicente Aranda. It is one of the few works that deals with the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), which led to 40 years of dictatorship (1939-1978). Vicente Aranda presents to us the revolution from the perspective of anarchist and militia women. In the name of freedom, these women embark on a double revolution to free themselves from patriarchal and capitalist oppression. WARNING: there are scenes of explicit (sexual) violence in this movie.
All are welcome. If you are interested please sign up to count chairs and pizzas.
Spread the word and see you next week 🙂
This event is organized by VOX Delft in collaboration with SG.
Check out SG’s related events this quarter on the theme: The Female Perspective
This fall at SG, we’re going to find out what the world would look like if women had the power. We’re going to erase the dominant patriarchal perspective for a moment and substitute it with an alternate reality. What would it look like if the tables were turned: would women set the standards, could men be vulnerable, and would we celebrate gender fluidity?
This theme is part of the series For Love of the World, in which we explore alternative stories and forgotten knowledge that can (re)connect us to our world.
